A LOOK BACK THROUGH HISTORY: AN ARGUMENT THAT EUGENICS CAUSED SOME PLIGHT ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENT

Modern thought theorizes that life as we know it on earth began somewhere in Africa—after this human migrated around the world. It is further theorized that the first humans emerged at least 100,000 years ago. Agriculture began over 10,000 years ago. And then in the 1400s and beyond, exploration from the British and other Europeans began.

The 1800s saw a large influx of British, Portuguese, Italian, French, and other Europeans on the Continent, especially after the Berlin Conference in 1884 when the “scramble for Africa” began.

Slavery was one reason the British 'pink cheeks' went to Africa. Though the Berlin Conference publicly spoke out against using Africans as slaves, the private side was less than horrified by the horrors of it. Other reasons included ivory from elephants, raw materials they couldn't find in Europe, and land itself. The illustration of the pink cheeks story showcases how many in Africa believed the land was not something that could be sold, but instead a gift from a higher power. The British had a different theory and was thrust upon the Africans that didn't have the ability to move out of the steamroller called the British empire.

Making European domination in Africa easier and less guilt-ridden was the common belief at the time among many elites that Africans were not as smart as the white man leading them to suffer chronic health problems. The eugenicist mindset helped Germany slaughter the Herero people in Namibia in the early 20th century

Later in the 20th century, the United Nations was hapless and the world was biased in its desire to ignore the mass geonicide that was taking place in Rwanda .. 100 days worth of fighting between the Tutsis and Hutus led to almost one mlilion people hacked and killed.. Belgium's history of eugenicist thinking assisted in making this easier decades earlier by dividing Hutus and Tutsis based on who was taller and who had thinner noses..

Clearly the conquests of the British Empire did more harm than good during the duration of rule (and beyond, with puppet governments often supported or even promoted by the Western world and European world, not to mention the constant ravaging of land that major global corporations take part in.)

The British imposed levies or taxes on people. The British changed the culture of the Africans that were affected by the British Empire. And as the author described with lament at the end of the article, even the language began to slowly disappear. The British clearly believed its religion and tradition to be superior to anything that the cultures of Africa produced--even though the cultures in Africa lived long with these traditions.

The Zulus resisted the British--often black and white films were made in the early 1900s showing the British to be intelligent and the Zulus to be insane. However a modern day humorous look at the Zulu wars was done by Monty Python the "Meaning of Life" when the Zulus scared British soldiers more worried about comfort and manicures. Humor works on many levels.

The British pink cheeks may not have helped Africa much--after all the deepest darkest parts of the continent remain that after generations of destruction of culture and ruination by slavery.

The British rule in Africa may not have helped Britain, either, in the long run. In the beginning, when ivory and slavery was traded as easily as modern day foods, it may have gone well. As the British took land, it was simple. As the 'pink cheeks' moved throughout the continent, though, they began to face skirmishes and constant opposition as the cultures began to reject foreign rule on their land.

THE THANKSGIVING SKY ABOVE: JUPITER, VENUS, AND THE MOON TOGETHER

My two nephews were convinced tonight that Jupiter and Venus were UFOs.. After they were stagnant in the sky for over an hour, they gave up their hopes of seeing an alien life.. My father came up with a better idea: It's not a UFO at all but instead the missing NASA tool belt..

Nonetheless, it turns out that tonight's night sky is going to be a star gazer's dream .. no telescope or binoculars needed for the show, instead the objects will even be visible in cities if it's a clear night..

How's it's going to end: Researchers start documenting "Truman syndrome"

Strange new reality-based disorder: Truman syndrome..

People that believe their life is being filmed, and that they are a part of a TRUMAN SHOW type reality set in which their every move is being recorded for all to see..

There is still some room for debate among experts:
"Other researchers aren't convinced, but still find the "Truman syndrome" an interesting example of the connection between culture and mental health.

Vaughan Bell, a psychologist who has researched Internet-related delusions, said one of his own former patients believed he was in the virtual-reality universe portrayed in the 1999 blockbuster "The Matrix." "I don't think that popular culture causes delusions," said Bell, who is affiliated with King's College London and the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia. "But I do think that it is only possible to fully understand delusions and psychosis in light of our wider culture."
I used to feel this way, too.. Being watched.. There's something strange about life sometimes that seems to throw you into a world that isn't there.. sometimes you feel like you're in a nightmare. Most of the time, if you're working a daily grind desk job, you'd wish you were in that life.. where you were the hero like Truman Burbank.. sailing away from the perfect world created for him to escape to the less perfect, more real world. But we're in the real world after all.. for better or worse..

So, how's it going to end, anyway?

The Pope and the physicist

REUTERS/Osservatore Romano (VATICAN)
Pope Benedict told a group of scientists--along with famed physicist Stephen Hawking--that there is no contradiction between God and empirical science.. The Pope went on to describe science as the pursuit of knowledge about God's creation. The interesting event showcases a modern day movement in the Catholic Church becoming complete.. Ask years ago what the Church thought about evolution and you would have been lucky to even get brushed off.. ask today, you find that the Church allows teaching evolution as theory--arguably it is a theory, just as creationism.. The Church also allows evolution to have occurred with the hand of God. Hawking has recently said he believes that the laws of the universe may have been decreed by God but God doesn't intervene to stop the universe from acting the way it always has .. Christian conservatives may not much like the notion of evolution being taught as a possibility by a religious institution.. But over the past two centuries, the Catholic Church modernized its thoughts on evolution. A creator, and creation.. And the Pope met the physicist..

WE ALL SCREAM "AT" ICE CREAM: MOM'S MILK??

You're never too old for ice cream.. right?

Well..

PETA argues that human breast milk should be used to make ice cream!

PETA officials say a move to breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their calves on factory farms and benefit human health

Forget the cows! You want to do this to women? If it's torture to you to do this to livestock, why would it be any kinder to get human women to herd together and get milked?

Can't we go back to PETA's old fashioned argument of just stopping milk and dairy consumption?

Ben and Jerry came to the rescue in a statement:
Ben & Jerry's said: "We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child."

I'll stick with the cows, too...

Code red! Homeland Security can read minds!? The best intentions.. often go awry

Science fiction got boring. Reality is scary. According to FOX NEWS there is a new federal computer program called MALINTENT. It's the 'brain child' (not pun intended?) of the Human Factors Division of Homeland Security .. and according to the designers and reporters that are quietly spreading the story, the program searches a human body for clues that could predict a terror attack. The miracle of technology:
But this is no polygraph test. Subjects do not get hooked up or strapped down for a careful reading; those sensors do all the work without any actual physical contact. It's like an X-ray for bad intentions
The best intentions of men often go awry. Perhaps the best intentions look bad. Would the Human Factors Division be able to tell the difference? The story goes on:
This whole security array — the scanners and screeners who make up the mobile lab — is called "Future Attribute Screening Technology" — or FAST — because it is designed to get passengers through security in two to four minutes, and often faster. If you're rushed or stressed, you may send out signals of anxiety, but FAST isn't fooled. It's already good enough to tell the difference between a harried traveler and a terrorist. Even if you sweat heavily by nature, FAST won't mistake you for a baddie.
Feeling uneasy yet? Anyone else worried? Worried.. for me is Newspeak for damn creeped out.

THE WORLD SAFE FOR TWO MORE MONTHS

Officials say that damage to the CERN atom smashing collider is going to force a two month halt to the machine.. On Thursday officials said that the collider malfunctioned within hours of its launch to great fanfare, but its operator didn't report the problem for a week.. Breath easy. This will take us to Thanksgiving! At least one more time..?

Blue sky, Barfy burgers. .chem trails!

I have a few personal favorites when it comes to holidays and seasons.. I love July 4, followed by Halloween, then Christmas, and then Thanksgiving.. The other holidays nad special days end up lower on the list.. July 4 is the perfect time of year: Summer nights, fireworks, and the celebration of what it means to be an American, which all too often involves way too much alchohol and an odd American desire to eat hot dogs..
Halloween's my second favorite most likely because it takes place during my favorite season: Fall. A magical time of year.. really, I believe it is. There's something about fall that has a certain spirit--at least if you live in an area that is getting increasingly chillier at night like my areas is..

I woke up this morning, walked outside, smelled the clean air, looked up at the blue skies overtop of the still green but changing trees, and what to my wondering eyes should appear: But a few dozen chem trails littering the air.

The jet airliner's fecal release of chemicals clouds, following behind the jet that is long gone..

I don't necessarily fall into the conspiritorial mindset when it comes to these, but it does make me wonder.. As I look up at the sky..

Whether they're harmful or not to earth and human besides, they ruined a perfectly gorgeous morning today by littering the blue sky with white snakes.. They'll go away..to come back another day?

IT'S ALIVE!!! The multibillion-dollar Large Hadron Collider gets fired up

Hold on to your knickers.. if the world ends by the earth swallowing itself, it's going to be now.. Right? Those that fear the Large Hadron Collider have said for years that when it gets fired up, it could create a black hole and swallow the earth hole. This past summer, I spoke to a few friends with some cold beer around a warm campfire. We all agreed that maybe this wasn't the best idea. . And if a few Coal Regioners from Eastern PA think this, why didn't anyone else stop this!? I'm only half joking.. The real news is this: The powerful *at least the makers hope it's powerful* atom smasher will be fired up on Wednesday.
"The first beams of protons will be fired around the 17-mile tunnel to test the controlling strength of the world's largest superconducting magnets. It will still be about a month before beams traveling in opposite directions are brought together in collisions that some skeptics fear could create micro "black holes" and endanger the planet. The project has attracted researchers of 80 nationalities, some 1,200 of them from the United States, which contributed $531 million of the project's price tag of nearly $4 billion"
So enjoy Monday and Tuesday, just in case. And when NOTHING happens to the earth on Wednesday, enjoy that day, too. And all the while, try your best to understand what the hell they are trying to do, because on matter how many times I try to research this, I leave simply scratching my head...

NO BULL: RED BULL WARNING

A study of 30 college students aged between 20 and 24-years-old found that drinking just one 250ml sugar-free can of the caffeinated energy drink increased the risk of blood clots! MORE According to Australian researchers: By drinking one can, the college participants had shown a 'cardiovascular profile similar to that of someone with heart disease'.. The American media has largely ignored the study.. the British media has gone hard on it, putting it on front pages and high on websites.. The INDEPENDENT, the TELEGRAPH, REUTERS.. But not much elsewhere. I had Red Bull last night, but it didn't make my hyper. However, after reading up on the Australian study, I'll have two aspirins before work today.. just in case.

DING DONG BIGFOOT'S DEAD! I'm not buying it

AFP/www.searchingforbigfoot.com I want to believe in Bigfoot. I really do.. Ever since I was a kid watching UNSOLVED MYSTERIES, or SIGHTINGS, or other shows about oddities and otherworldly creatures walking among us.. But while I want to believe, I'm not convinced. I'm at heart a skeptic about quite a lot of things.. I even doubt things I believe in, often questioning myself about my own beliefs. Maybe I'm just a little off the deep end. But I never saw Bigfoot.. Or did I? Two men say they did see Bigfoot.. What's more, the two men claim they found the body of Bigfoot! Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer told questioning and skeptical reporters at a news conference today that they found the mighty Yetti while hiking in Georgia.. One expert quoted by the AFP said,
"I'm extremely skeptical about this bigfoot claim," he said. "What I've seen so far is not compelling in the least, and I think the pictures cast grave doubts on their claim. It just looks like a costume with some fake guts thrown on top for effect."
For the record, when I searched You Tube for a video of the press conference today, I found something very different. . watch it at your leisure. And dream on, maybe the Sasquatch is out there.. somewhere.. waiting to truly be caught:

Their next challenge is to make me fearless

Creation of "fearless" mice has caused me to grow a bit more fearful of our future. Is this the point of science? To manipulate creatures to change their mental psyches? First they gave us the glowing cats of Korea.. and now this! Japanese scientists have "developed" fearless mice..The study and experimentation of mice shows that with genetic removal of nasal cells, they don't smell cats, and have no fear... I suppose in one regard, this type of research is interesting and helpful. It's interesting to see that mice aren't afraid of cats simply because cats prey on them, but instead because of reasons more genetic and in nature. But are the future attempts by scientists going to stop us from being afraid of new jobs? New schools? Brussel sprouts? How far should science go in examining fear and lessening it in society? This brings up the notion of a "BRAVE NEW WORLD" future for me every time I see stories. I can foresee a vision in which people pop a pill or get a vaccine for each and every thing that can be wrong with them. Some would argue that if the pills and needles world what would be wrong with that future.. I can't argue with them. Reason being is because of how wrong I can see that future being. I can't even begin to demonstrate my feeling of how reckless humanity can be if we go down a path where we think we can create our life.. Instead of just living within a creation as we should. Sorry to get serious. But those neon cats just scare me..
