Words of wisdom from Ron Paul during economic crisis

"The government must divorce itself of the albatross of Fannie and Freddie, balance and drastically decrease the size of the federal budget, and reduce onerous regulations on banks and credit unions that lead to structural rigidity in the financial sector. Until the big-government apologists realize the error of their ways, and until vocal free-market advocates act in a manner which buttresses their rhetoric, I am afraid we are headed for a rough ride."

ON RON PAUL: NO CHANCE OF ANY ENDORSEMENT FOR MCCAIN

Ron Paul, staying honest. God bless him..

The free market, RIP?

Principled conservatives are a little shaky about the Bush plan to secure the rapidly inflaming American economy--what a good thing to know there are still some principled people in general that grace the halls of Congress.. Bush is basically asking for a $700 billion *with a b* bailout of worthless mortgages and other bad debt by financials institutions on the rocks.. The essence of the Bush plan asks for a lot more powers for the Administration .. Congress now has to vote on whether they want to give Bush the new duties. New duties that include purchasing bad mortgage backed securities.. Bush is following a few other leaders that did some similar acts in response to dramatic economic times: Reconstruction Finance Corporation occurred during the Roosevelt Administration in 1932, in the midst of the Great Depression..Roosevelt gave money to banks and others to try to spur economic growth.. And in the late 80s, the Resolution Trust Corporation was set up to take on the savings and loan crisis. The Corp took over defaulted mortgages, foreclosed real estate and other assets of nearly a thousand failed savings and loans. While there may be precedent, and some bi-partisan support for the Bush plan in Congress, a few conservatives are speaking out against the huge government measures. One even said this is the death of the free market! Senator Jim Bunning commented, "The free market for all intents and purposes is dead in America." Senator Jim DeMint spoke out: "What we need now is not what could be nearly a trillion dollars in new taxpayer bailouts, but pro-growth policies that allow our markets to correct and start growing again." Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin wrote of the Bush actions: "the mother of all bailouts" and declared "the death of fiscal conservatism.".. And finally, Schmuckraker's long time hero Ron Paul speaking out about the bailouts (And he is set to ask some good tough questions of Chairman Bernanke next week) saying that this will not be the last time the government steps in to bail out business ..Ron Paul told US NEWS & WORLD REPORT, "It's more of the same. More debt and more inflation and more pressure on the dollar. Ultimately, although the markets are responding very favorably at the moment, I think it is going to be devastating to the dollar and to our financial situation in this country." And on bailout out the auto industry (which is lining up with destitute hands out to be the next industry saved), Ron Paul said: "Oh I think so. We are not going to let them fail. Our policy is such that everybody gets bailed out. It's like a drug addict, they've got to take their fix. It's too tough getting off these drugs. And the drug here is easy credit." Ron Paul has no chance on being president. Obama and McCain do..

THE FOX SNUB AND THE LUNTZ PUB

FOX news immediately went to Frank Luntz after tonight's GOP debate in New Hampshire.. Minus Ron Paul. At the restaurant as his undecided raised their hands and gave their thoughts.. Ron Paul signs were bouncing back and forth behind them outside of the building.. "Unfair FOX" read one ... another screamed in blue letters "RON PAUL 2008!".. The camera attempted to get face shots.. but noticeably tried its best to lay low enough to keep the window out of the picture.. In the mean time.. Ron Paul held his own forum! Ron Paul fans across America can sleep well: At least Paul's name was in some way somehow on FOX news tonight.. Even if it was because of sloppy camera work allowing a few seconds of signage..

OK.. JUST THOUGHT I'D SAY IT AGAIN FOR MY NEW HAMPSHIRE READERS Vote for Ron Paul and Barack Obama.. .. help us get a good choice in November.

Why is Wyoming ignored?

There could be a few reasons the media is not paying attention to the Cowboy state today.. Results of the Republican Wyoming caucus should be prepared by about 3pm today. Few candidates visited the state.. Mitt Romney sent his wife. Surprised the candidates didn't send their pets as honorary campaign captains.. But is the ignorance because the real momentum and big story on the Democrats? The potential fall of the invisible and inevitable Hillary? Or is it because Ron Paul may do well? There were few articles after the Iowa caucus concerning Paul's fifth place finish. He almost finished fourth. And almost third. The candidates besides Huck and Mitt were pretty close together. Ron Paul could do well in Wyoming. The media seemingly have been out to destroy the fringe candidates, or those they consider the fringe. They were forced to pay attention to Ron Paul after his record breaking fundraising.. And something just sneaks into my mind. Is Wyoming not going to matter if Ron Paul wins? There could be potential road blocks to a Paul victory with the process in Wyoming, however. And then on to New Hampshire.. Remember, my personal hope was that we'd get a choice between Ron Paul and Barack Obama in the general election. I knew it was improbable. But it would be an amazing choice. Two fresh ideas.. two candidates of change and true beliefs. Two candidates against the use of torture, against overspending our military power. The fear of the Schmuckraker today is that we end up in November 08 with the typical two: McCain vs Hillary.

Seriously.. the biggest newspaper (of yesteryear) gets a lot wrong about Ron Paul, and issues a major correction.

ANDREW SULLIVAN ENDORSES RON PAUL

To me this is big: Andrew Sullivan endorses Ron Paul for Republican nomination..

According to Sullivan: "The great forgotten principles of the current Republican party are freedom and toleration. Paul's federalism, his deep suspicion of Washington power, his resistance to government spending, debt and inflation, his ability to grasp that not all human problems are soluble, least of all by government: these are principles that made me a conservative in the first place. No one in the current field articulates them as clearly and understands them as deeply as Paul. He is a man of faith who nonetheless sees a clear line between religion and politics. More than all this, he has somehow ignited a new movement of those who love freedom and want to rescue it from the do-gooding bromides of the left and the Christianist meddling of the right. The Paulites' enthusiasm for liberty, their unapologetic defense of core conservative principles, their awareness that in the new millennium, these principles of small government, self-reliance, cultural pluralism, and a humble foreign policy are more necessary than ever - no lover of liberty can stand by and not join them.

"He's the real thing in a world of fakes and frauds. And in a primary campaign where the very future of conservatism is at stake, that cannot be ignored. In fact, it demands support. Go Ron Paul!"

Wow. Wow....

Later Sullivan joked he cannnot getting this much email love..

Some Ron Paul related random rakings

A new video from the Paul campaign shows a happy family Christmas 2007 .. and he wishes us a great 2008.
We wish him the same..
Kind of goofy ad. But it works because it shows a family and not a politician. Big family. Huge family. All with Myspace and You Tube sites promoting "Google Ron Paul" banners most likely.

PBS' NOW program does some in-depth coverage of Paul campaign..
Perhaps the media realizes that it can't stop the tide of Paulomaniacs taking over the net?

Ron Paul on the VIEW

I didn't even know Mr. Paul was going to be a guest on THE VIEW.. But he felt the heat over his abortion position..

VIDEO..

Very interesting clip. Very interesting argument. Also interesting that Ron Paul is not changing any views or shading them gray for more votes. Is this why he's a hit?

Paulalooza

Getting a lot of emails on RONPALAPOOZA... I am not the creator of the site, to answer a few of you.. You will have to contact Matt Jarfi for info on where the plans are at.. I only knew what was reported here this past weekend.

But I did check the poll today. 95% of the respondents on the site--though the poll is unscientific--would attend the event..

More updates as I learn them.

Ron Paul.. the man the AP calls the "unusual" candidate

The candidate who should be president is now a huge attraction on both Google and You Tube.. It's not translating into poll results, though.. he still trails behind the major candidates.. One could only hope this surge of youth-invigorated Paulamania will somehow translate into an electoral revolution in 2008.. As I said, one could only hope.. In the meantime, as I mentioned in an earlier post today, an AP story today gave us a 65-word-story on the Texas Congressman.. His "unusual appeal." Some other Random Ron rakings: The Congressman has more donations from active military soldiers than any other Republican candidate.. The new favorite for people looking for an outsider.. On Dennis Miller, Paul says he would like to do some things but cannot because of Constitutional limitations that he pledges he would follow.. Paul talks about freedom on the Internet.. So the question: Does the media's insistence on using the adjectives "long-shot" or "unusual" or "contrarian" or second tier" before Paul's name keep him where he is? Or is it a false appeal online? Can the Net be so disconnected from the real campaign? Or are people just so sick of the campaign becoming an earlier and earlier process that it is not even paying attention to a thing?
