CAGES IN COPENHAGEN

The New York TIMES is reporting today that Copenhagen is talking tough on planned climate change protests coming up during the summit that begins Monday..

Even being planned: Cages for the 'criminals' that dare speak out!

The TIMES reported today that 'holding pens' are being set up around the city to cage in protesters during the 12 day climate change summit..

Tom Zellers Jr. from the New York TIMES wrote today,

"Officials have made it clear that they aim to keep the peace during the 12-day conference, organized under United Nations auspices. From new laws rushed through Parliament allowing stiffer fines and extended detentions for those deemed unruly, to public displays of newly acquired antiriot and emergency equipment, leaders here say they are preparing for the worst while hoping for the best. Meanwhile, a variety of protest and advocacy groups -- some with obscure political lineage -- have signaled in online postings and other public statements that they will not be cooperating."

The town appears to be going into a complete lockdown.. Barricades and high fences will surround parts of the city for the meeting; however, Zellers from the TIMES reports a quote from someone that argues the cages are not even large enough to sleep or go to the toilet..
