WHAT WOULD DUNDEE THINK!? THE FILTER IS ON, THE DEATH STAR IS NEARLY COMPLETE

For those in the world, selfish with Facebook and fat with Myspace, you may not know how magic your internet world has become.. the magic in Australia may now be taken away with a swift force: An internet filter set to stop 'criminal' and violent sites.. Despite those pesky concerns about freedom and what not..

It's true, and not an urban legend: Australia is implementing a mandatory net filter that the government says will help defeat child porn sites, along with sites that promote violence. But, isn't it interesting that Australia is joining China and Iran with their net censorship..

The filter in the land down under will be the strictest of democratic countries .. The government will now begin compiling a list of blacklisted sites. Will we make it!?

Computer Weekly sums it up like this,
"More than 100,000 people have signed a petition against the Australian government's plans to censor internet access by using web filtering software to block any traffic the government considers inappropriate.
Banned sites will be selected by an independent classification body guided by complaints from the public, said communications minister Stephen Conroy.
The website SaveTheNet, which is supported by Amnesty International, has set up an online petition for people to register their objection to the scheme. Twitter users have also been posting their disapproval of the Australian government's proposals."

Whether Tweets about Australia's new sudden love of censorship matters or not will be seen.. It didn't do so well in Iran in 2009. It seems to rarely achieve advancement in Red China. And if Australia is adopting that style, Twitter's days in the outback may be numbered..
