ANOTHER TELL-ALL BUSH BOOK

This one is being written by Matt Latimer, a former Bush speechwriter .. The book explores Bush's comments about Barack Obama: "This is a dangerous world and this cat isn’t remotely qualified to handle it" Latimer also writes of Bush's thoughts on Sarah Palin: "What is she, the governor of Guam?"

But an ominous passage details the 2008 financial meltdown.. NEWSWEEK's David Graham writes,
"Latimer chronicles Bush’s frustration in trying to pitch his financial-rescue package in September--the one Congress soundly rejected days later (a compromise version was eventually passed). Bush didn't seem to understand how the plan worked, for which Latimer blames then-Treasury secretary Hank Paulson, who he says "didn't seem to know [what the plan was], changed his mind, had misled the president, or some combination of the three."

The possibility of Paulson's misleading of Bush is easy to believe.. Reports at the time showed Henry Paulson to be in direct charge of the rush to pass the bill through Congress.. Initially, skeptical Republicans held their ground.. eventually a massive bailout package sailed through with little public ventilation of what was even in it. Paulson encouraged passage with a threat that Martial Law would be declared without instant approval by both houses..

Eventually more books will be written about the topic--and rightfully so.
