Daily smile scans are being performed in Japan, according to reports in the UK TELEGRAPH..

More than 500 staff at Keihin Electric Express Railway are subjected to daily smile scans.. the purpose is to make sure they are happy to greet the public.

The story may cause you to .. smile.. but maybe it should spike fear.. The TELEGRAPH goes on to report,

"For those with a below-par grin, one of an array of smile-boosting messages will op up on the computer screen ranging from "you still look too serious" to "lift up your mouth corners", according to the Mainichi Daily News. A growing number of service industries are reportedly using the new Omron Smile Scan system for "smile training" among its staff."

The workers receive a daily smile printout. Employers expect them to be happy all day.
