Rwanda denies reports that sterlization plan is being worked on..
Human Rights Watch called on the country to scrap the law--one that the group said would force the sterilization of mentally disabled Rwandans..
The response from the country: There is no plan MORE: Damascene Ntawukuriryayo, deputy speaker of the parliament, said he never saw a provision or bill that called for the sterilization.. BUT Human Rights Watch is sticking by its original language (MORE..) Director Joe Amon said, "Compulsory HIV testing and forced sterilization are counter-productive to the Rwandan government's goal of improved reproductive health" HWC said, "mandatory testing and compulsory disclosure can put women at increased risk of abuse and undermine public trust in the health care system"
