The housing industry is still tanking.. may as well go to the mall--without stores! Malls from sea to shining sea are suffering during this Great Recession, job loss is leading to less shoppers gracing stores.. more stores shuttering.. less eateries.. more vacant spaces.. more malls trying to spruce up once filled aisles by placing ads in the empty spots..

A sad day when you think of malls of yesterday, busy and bustling with shoppers and kids..

According to the Associated Press, there are hundreds of empty "ghost boxes" throughout the country..

The International Council of Shopping Centers said 6,913 retail stores — of all types — announced closures last year, compared with 4,603 in 2007..

The days of busy Friday nights at the mall may be memories .. Wally World reaps the benefits. But no one else.
