Littered campaign signs on The Sunday Morning Sidewalk

AP Photo/Ron Edmonds It's here! Election day coming in two days.. 48 hours to go until those candidates that we have heard from, met, and gotten sick of, will win or lose the election.. 48 hours until we are able to voice our opinions on massive numbers at polling places. I long for those days of number 2 pencils, instead now we all have electronic voting machines.. I don't trust them. I'd much rather that pencil. The accuracy may never have been 100%, but we don't know if the machines are better--we don't get printouts of the vote in my district. Do you? And we all know Oprah almost didn't vote for Barack Obama... Last night, on Saturday Night Live, John McCain appeared and tried one last pitch: Comedy. He seems to be a legitimately funny guy--and the McCain that appeared on SNL last night wasn't the same one we've seen all year. If McCain loses (and I still stand by my prediction for better or worse of an Obama win) there will be one major reason as to why: He wasn't himself, and he didn't appear to be permitted to be himself. He didn't want Sarah Palin, did he? He wanted Lieberman, or Tom Ridge. He got Palin after two phone calls and a brief encounter. Maybe it was the lipstick that convinced him.. And if Obama's campaign wasn't as historic and well-run as it was, Biden would have been an entirely terrible pick for VEEP. He's verbally clumsy, and extremely arrogant. The only saving grace for Obama was the better get out the vote program that he had.. Won't we all be so much happier when people stop calling our homes? I got a call yesterday that actually asked if I needed a ride to my polling place, they were going to take me. I thanked them but hung up the phone.. the thought, I'm having some car troubles. Maybe I'll be regretting my refusal of a free ride on election day.. From the world we stand on, the random rakings of the day, presented to you for your approval on the cold and sunny Sunday Morning November Sidewalk: Labor-management cooperation finally occurs in Boeing strike: Machinists union votes to ratify agreement with company.. Did you set your clock back? It's really not 9am now, it's 10am. Well, yesterday it was.. so what time is it? And why do we do it? George W. Bush is still president: And a judge has ordered the White House to produce wiretap memos.. China destroys tons of tainted animal feed.. Obama tells SF CHRONICLE that he will bankrupt coal industry! Organic farmer plans lawsuit over gene modification.. fears of contamination.. New Vatican guidelines for seminarians attempts to stop future priests that have "deep-seated homosexual tendencies".. Tonight: THE SIMPSONS new treehouse of horror airs.. Eighth-grader dressed as Jesus sent home from school.. Study shows that overweight women have as much sex as thin women.. Couple arrested as dispute over woman's missing false teeth..
