While we fight, they vacation
American forces are being injured, burned; some are being killed.. Each and every day is a struggle in vast portions of a country where a war ravages and leaders at home debate what the future should and could bring. Young men and women entered the military to fight for their country. Those same men and women will continue to fight--even during Iraqi parliamentary vacation! The White House resigned now to the fact that the Iraqi Parliament may be off during August. Tony Snow even quoted as saying that it's 130 degrees in Iraq in August. While Snow and the White House may be either falsely or realistically sympathetic to Iraq Parliament concerns about summer heat, American soldiers wearing bulky uniforms carrying weapons, driving in armored vehicles certainly promise to make this summer's August heat even hotter----just as it was every summer since the United States mission to disarm Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction that weren't began back in 2003.. The Washington POST pointed out today, that even with Congressional criticism of Iraq's vacation plans, American legislators will also be on vacation this summer from August through September, if their plans hold up. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said that Iraq could secure itself.. It certainly appears that their parliament took some cues and lessons from our Congress... As the war rages on. Our soldiers defending a faraway land while its leaders relax and drink fine wines. No better way to show another country's fighting force appreciation than by leaving the country during the hottest time for that fighting force to conduct modern warfare. To take a cue from Michael Moore, a You Tube offering.. The Go-Go's VACATION. Maybe our troops can sing it while they risk their lives.
